In a major joint project, the World Chiropractic Alliance
(WCA), the Journal of Vertebral
Subluxation Research (JVSR), and the Council on Chiropractic Practice (CCP) are
beginning work on a massive "Compendium of Chiropractic Techniques" to be
published and made available to chiropractors and other interested parties.
This is the second phase of a three-phase project to document and codify chiropractic
technique for the benefit of the chiropractic profession and consumers.
Phase one consisted of an exhaustive review of subluxation-related chiropractic
literature, as well as a Technique Conference and a Leadership Conference. The CCP relied
on this information to develop its "Clinical Guideline Number 1: Vertebral
Subluxation in Chiropractic Practice," published in 1998.
The CCP Guideline has gone on to become well accepted throughout the United States and
Canada by the chiropractic profession.
The CCP, working with JVSR and the WCA, plans to review the information, update
it and publish a "Compendium of Chiropractic Technique" which will serve as an
invaluable resource for practitioners and others interested in the unique character of
chiropractic.
In order to accomplish this task, all technique developers and experts are again being
asked to participate in the information-gathering process.
"It is vital that all chiropractic techniques be represented in the 'Compendium'
and that only the most up-to-date and accurate data be included," stated Dr. Matthew
McCoy, JVSR editor.
A special meeting has been scheduled during the World Chiropractic Alliance Summit,
March 1-4, 2001 in Washington D.C. The goal of the meeting is to set guidelines for what
will be included in the document. All technique developers, experts, researchers and
interested field doctors -- or their selected representatives -- are urged to attend.
All those intending to attend should contact Dr. McCoy by December 31, 2000 through the
WCA office or via e-mail at editor@jvsr.com.
Questions concerning the meeting or the "Compendium" should be directed to Dr.
McCoy.
