The World Chiropractic Alliance (WCA) International Summit is still six
months away but it's already sparking excitement around the world.
Set for April 11-13, 2002, the Summit promises some of the most
interesting speakers assembled for a chiropractic event, as well as
chances to meet key legislative leaders.
At the first WCA International Summit, held earlier this year,
participants met with such Congressional leaders as then majority leader
Sen. Trent Lott, Sen. Orrin Hatch, Sen. Jim Bunning, Rep. Paul Kanjorski,
and Rep. Rush Holt.
This year, on the morning of the Summit's opening day, arrangements
will be made for doctors from the U.S. to meet with their Senators and
Representatives. They will be able to discuss the role of chiropractic in
American health care as well as the status of the chiropractic postage
stamp and House Concurrent Resolution 46.
"It's important, particularly in these days of international
turmoil, for us to let our Congressional representatives know of our
support, and give them a chance to show their support of our
profession," stated Terry A. Rondberg, D.C., president of the WCA.
"Most legislators remain eager to talk with their constituents. This
will be an unprecedented opportunity for chiropractors to connect, one on
one, with the lawmakers from their states."
All U.S. legislators will be invited to attend a round table discussion
of chiropractic, to be held on Thursday after the round of morning
meetings and a luncheon buffet.
In the afternoon, legislators and members of the press will be
encouraged to attend a special "Chiropractic Day" event held in
the Capitol building.
Senators, Representatives and their staffs will be given a free spinal
screening using the Insight Millennium Subluxation Station -- the same
machine used by Dan O'Brien, the fastest, most versatile athlete in the
world. Each will receive a printed readout of the test results. A licensed
doctor of chiropractic will be on hand to give spinal adjustments.
For many Senators and Representatives, this may be their first
experience receiving an adjustment, Dr. Rondberg noted. They will also
receive packets of information about chiropractic.
Also scheduled for Thursday is a meeting and reception for the
International Board of Governors. Buses will provide transportation back
to the Hotel Washington.
