“Passion of Christ” star and chiropractic family to be honored by World
Chiropractic Alliance at Summit
One of the most
financially successful movies of the new millennium is “The Passion of
Christ,” which grossed $353 million-plus
(making it -- as of mid April 2004 -- the 8th highest
grossing films of all times) and drew millions of viewers around
the world. Publicity surrounding the movie was nearly as staggering, with
articles appearing in nearly every newspaper and magazine.
What many of the
articles mention is the fact that the star of the film, Jim Caviezel, is
from a chiropractic family! His father is Mount Vernon, Wash. chiropractor
James Caviezel – a member of the World Chiropractic Alliance – and his
sister is attending Palmer Chiropractic
College. The young actor, who
played the coveted role of Jesus Christ in the film, once considered
becoming a chiropractor as well and only the pull of show business could
tempt him away from the profession.
The entire Caviezel
family will be presented with a special WCA “Spotlight” award, in
recognition of their efforts to put chiropractic in a good light. The award
will be presented at the 2004 WCA International Summit, which takes place
April 29 - May 1, in Washington, D.C.
This will be the
first time the “Spotlight” award has been given, explained Terry A.
Rondberg, D.C., WCA President. It will be reserved for those people – both
chiropractors and non-chiropractors – who bring positive publicity to the
profession. “Every time chiropractic is mentioned in a positive context, it
helps raise awareness of our great profession,” he commented. “Jim
Caviezel’s pride in his chiropractic connections has put the entire
profession in a positive light and we are proud to recognize him and his
entire family.”
