WCA Summit 2005 set for April
The World
Chiropractic Alliance will hold its annual International Summit, Friday,
April 15 to Saturday, April 16, 2005, in Washington, DC.
The event will offer a
variety of presentations by many top chiropractic speakers, including Dr.
Ben Lerner, author of the best‑selling "Body by God;" Dr. Christopher Kent,
renowned chiropractic researcher and president of the Council on
Chiropractic Practice; Dr. Jay Holder, developer of the Torque Release
Technique (TRT) and president/co‑founder of the American College of
Addictionology and Compulsive Disorders; Dr. Madeline Behrendt, whose
groundbreaking research on chiropractic and infertility made national
headlines; Matthew McCoy, editor of the Journal of Vertebral Subluxation
Research; Barbara Loe Fisher, founder and president of the National
Vaccine Information Center; Leona Fischer, one of only two members of the
Veterans Affairs Chiropractic Advisory Committee to vote in favor of direct
access for chiropractors; and Terry A. Rondberg, president of the World
Chiropractic Alliance and Chiropractors for Wellness.
Other speakers scheduled
to appear include: Drs. Kevin Pallis, Ed Plentz, Spence Jahner, Liz
Anderson‑Peacock, Tony Palermo, Eric Plasker, Patrick Gentempo, Brian
Stenzler, and David Jackson.
Each year,
the Summit gathers subluxation‑centered chiropractors from around the world
to discuss important issues and establish a powerful presence in the U.S.
Capitol. Previous Summits have drawn high‑powered legislators such as Sens.
Trent Lott, Orrin Hatch and Max Baucus; Reps. Donald A. Manzullo, Paul
Kanjorski and Rush Holt; and government officials such as Col. Ken Cox,
director of Special Programs for the Office of the Assistant Secretary of
Defense; Dr. Susan McDermott, Senior Health Policy Fellow on the Senate
Committee on Labor Education and Pensions; and Dr. Steve Geoff, Executive
Director of the White House Commission on Complementary and Alternative
Medicine (CAM).

In 2004, the other
members of the Chiropractic Coalition ‑‑ the International Chiropractors
Association and the Federation of Straight Chiropractors and Organizations
‑‑ joined the WCA for a Joint Legislative Action Day prior to the Summit. In
2005, the Coalition Legislative Day will be held on Thursday, April 14, in
the Capitol Building.
During the Summit, which
is open to all doctors of chiropractic, the WCA International Board of
Governors will hold its annual meeting and vote on a variety of issues
affecting the organization and the profession.
The International Summit
will be held at the Marriott Metro Center, 775 12th Street NW, Washington,
DC. Registration is $399 for each doctor (a spouse or CA may accompany the
registered doctor at no extra charge; additional non‑DC guests are $125
each). Registration includes a buffet lunch each day and the Friday banquet
dinner. Chiropractic students may attend for $99.
Doctors may register for
the Summit and reserve their hotel rooms by calling the WCA at 800‑347‑1011.
