RCS schedules first research training session
RCS -- Research and
Clinical Science -- will hold its first training session for doctors of
chiropractic June 11-12, on the campus of the University of
California
-- Irvine.
Doctors will be given
intensive training in research protocols and the use of RCS computers and
software, as well as in recruiting volunteers to take part in the
international research pro
ject
that will examine the impact of subluxations on overall health and wellness.
The project will also assess potential benefits of chiropractic care
including improved function and performance, enhanced
immune function and improved quality of life.
Doctors will learn to
pool patient data into a central, Internet-based network, to be analyzed by
the RCS International Scientific Advisory Panel. The training, as well as
equipment such as tablet PC with pre-installed
proprietary software, and all needed written materials, are included in the
doctor's three-year enrollment fee.
RCS was founded by
David A. Jackson, DC, Robert Blanks,
PhD and Matthew McCoy, DC as a private sector research company to provide
thousands of DCs with the tools and training required to easily and quickly
collect standardized data on patients and volunteers.
With this data, RCS can
formulate the definitive gold standard for lifetime, scientific,
subluxation-based chiropractic care for families and demonstrate the
advantages of regular chiropractic care. RCS will seek publication of
seminal studies in key peer-reviewed scientific journals, and broadly
publicize those papers over the Internet and through press releases and
articles directed at the mainstream print and broadcast media.
"There are three key
benefits doctors receive from joining RCS," stated Dr. Jackson. "The first
is that they are contributing to scientific research that will help prove
the benefits of chiropractic as a wellness approach. Second, they will have
the unique opportunity to educate hundreds, and possibly thousands, of
volunteers who are eager to learn more about chiropractic and who are likely
to choose to receive care as paying patients. Third, they will almost
instantly increase their credibility within their community, since they will
reposition themselves as chiropractic researchers as well as practitioners.
Displaying the RCS logo as an 'RCS Authorized Research Site' sets them apart
and gives them an aura of scientific respectability that is denied to most
chiropractors."
The cost to join RCS is
approximately $400 per month for a three-year commitment and includes a
tablet PC with proprietary data collection software, as well as a wide range
of support materials including model press releases and camera-ready artwork
for forms, brochures, and other promotional and educational items.
Enrollment for each
training session is limited. To apply or obtain more information, call
